Chet Zar at Visionary Tattoo Arts Festival 7/30-8/1

Visionary Tattoo Arts Festival is a 3-day explosion of tattooing, live painting, contests, burlesque, performance art and music, set to kick off this Friday July 30th down on the beach at the Convention Hall in Asbury Park, NJ. All weekend long, when the sun goes down there will be live music and after parties hosted by The Wonder Bar and presented by Shore Alternative and Harley Davidson/Buell. One of my favorite artists, Chet Zar, will be hosting a live painting group, “Visionary Primitive” with a number of very talented artists including James Kern, Jon Clue, Corey Kruger, Chris Dingwell, Tim Kern, Jon Jon and many more. Chet is well known for his macabre style of painting and for his work with TOOL on many of their music videos. He can often be found showcasing his work over at Last Rites Gallery in NYC and Copro Nason Gallery in Santa Monica, CA. I had the pleasure of catching his most recent exhibit at Last Rites and was blown away by the intensity of his work both in his use of color and choice of subject matter.
