The Advertisement that Watches You
The New York Times looks back on 2009 and delivers to us their “9th Annual Year in Ideas”. Catching my eye, is this new advertising idea which has started as a one-time installation inside a bus shelter in Berlin. Using a camera attached to a computer with face-tracking software, the image in the advertisement changes based on whether or not someone is looking towards the poster. New technology will also allow advertisements to determine the sex of an onlooker and change pictures to cater to either a man or a woman.
