Ilvy Njiokiktjien “Afrikaner Youth”
Dutch photojournalist Ilvy Njiokiktjien received the Canon Female Photojournalist Award this year at the Visa Pour L’Image festival for her proposed work documenting Afrikaner youth. Her work provides insight into the racial divide that still exists in South Africa today, and the perceived threat of civil war in the future. Njiokiktjien’s fantastic imagery is rife with emotion and information, allowing the viewer to form their own opinions about white supremacy youth camps and racial tensions between whites and non-whites in South Africa.
