Shepard Fairey’s Mr. Spray
This month, Shepard Fairey will be releasing his first toy created within the last 11 years, “Mr. Spray”. Mr. Spray was developed in 2004 by the artist as a street-art takeover of a 1950′s advertising design character and was first spotted between the confines of a one-dimensional OBEY print. Now, Mr. Spray comes to life as an 11-inch, limited-edition, vinyl toy and will be sold in 4 different color variants of red, black, silver and gold.
There will be 350 each of the black and red which are currently available for pre-order through Strangco’s online store for $84.99. Once released mid-July, they’ll also be available at some local designer toy shops and like most of Fairey’s work, will probably go fast. The silver, made in a very limited edition of 100 is also available at Strangco online (although not for pre-order) and if you plan to attend the 2010 San Diego Comic Con, you can score one there instead. The gold Mr. Spray will only be sold through Obey-Giant and comes in a limited edition of 200.
